“In the aftermath of the end of war thanks to (HE) the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, we Muslims were looking forward to a new beginning. But we are facing new problems. After more than 20 years, these Muslim IDPs are not re-settled yet. Many Mosques and Muslim schools in their places of origin stand destroyed. We do not get any support from anyone on this resettlement” said Rishad Bathiudeen (Leader of All Ceylon Makkal Congress) speaking at the final campaign event held at Hulftsdorf on March 27 evening from 8.00pm.

“I myself was a refugee from Vanni. I campaigned for elections from my refugee camp and became an MP. During the recent problems faced by Muslims in Colombo, no Colombo Muslim MPs raised any voice and they were not to be found anywhere but I and ACMC were not afraid to raise the issues. We Muslims in Sri Lanka have been without a proper leader since Late Leader Ashroff died. There is no one to speak for the helpless Muslims of Sri Lanka. After Election day (29th) this situation will change. You will see that ACMC will be elected to support the Muslims of Sri Lanka” Minister Bathiudeen said.

The meeting was attended by a large number of residents of Colombo 8 area.
