ACMC leader Rishad Bathiudeen, at a public meeting in Pottuvil, said that SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem’s statement about contesting under the symbol of an elephant in order to remove the controversial statue at Mayakkallimalai in Irakkamam is ridiculous.
He also went on to criticize Hakeem’s statement that people should not to worry about changing symbols as long as the candidate’s views are clear about serving the people.Bathiudeen was addressing a meeting in support of his ACMC candidates contesting in the upcoming Local Government (LG) election in the presence of a large gathering.”The younger generation who failed to achieve their aspirations in a democratic way should not engage in wanted pursuits. I invited them to join the party for proper guidance and to be part of a well-disciplined society and journey to prosperity. “Those who have promised to solve the problems of the youths and the issues of Mayakkallimalai Statue are now telling other stories. Don’t they feel ashamed to come out with another story of ‘Elephant’ symbol?”
Bathiudeen also said that Pottuvil is a historically-important place that needs a lot of development and that there are good plans to uplift the standard of living of the people and develop the tourist areas of Arugambay and Kumuna. Therefore, he appealed to the people to think twice and cast their votes for ACMC.The meeting presided over by candidate, Attorney-at-Law A.S.Munas and was addressed by Party organizers as well.
