The recent arrival of over 115 people from Myanmar on the west coast of Mullaitivu, specifically in Mullivaikal, has led to their accommodation at the Trincomalee Jamaliya School after being initially taken to the Trincomalee Ashraf Landing Port. On December 21, All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) Leader and Member of Parliament Rishad Bathiudeen, along with MP Ashraf Tahir, visited the Myanmar refugees at the Jamaliya School in Trincomalee.
During the visit, Hon. Leader met with the Rohingya refugees, who are facing severe lack of basic facilities. He took time to listen to their needs and offered immediate assistance. Discussions also took place with officials regarding future steps to assist the refugees, including measures that may involve the government, security forces, and the United Nations. Dr. Hilmi Mohideen and Dr. Hilmi Mahroof, organizers of the ACMC for the Trincomalee District, were also present during the visit.
