Minister of Power and Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka revealed on 11 May that there are no settlers in Wilpattu Reserved Forest stressing that people are allowed to settle outside Wilpattu jungles only with permissions.
Minister Champika Ranawaka said this during the Press Conference held at theย Ministry of Power and Energy on 11 May.
“According to the information available to me, there are no settlers within Wilpattu Jungle Reservesย and areย settlers in the surrounding jungles who are permitted and they areย not illegal. With the permission of Wildlife Director, people can settle within National Parks. According to the information available to me, these settlements are permitted constructions within such a national park outside WilpattuJungle Reserves” Minister Ranawaka said.
