Rishad proves MP Weerawansaโ€™s Parliamentary claims fabricated

The Leader of ACMC slammed an opposition MP in Parliament on June 18 for damaging and wild allegations made in the House, which falsely claimed that ACMC leader was related through his family to a woman suicide bomber identified in April 21 Easter Sunday bombings.

Addressing the Parliament on 18 June, ACMC Leader Rishad Bathiudeen MP called Wimal Weerawansa MPโ€™s bluff on his allegations linking Bathiudeen MPโ€™s family to Fathima Ilham, identified as the Dematagoda woman suicide bomber in Easter Sunday Terror Attacks. Bathiudeen MP also strongly voiced that Weerawansa MP was sowing ethnic hatred in the country by making such false claims not just in recent times but โ€˜over a period of time.โ€™

โ€œRecently, in my absence in Parliament, Wimal Weerawansa MP stated that the Dematagoda woman suicide bomber identified in Easter Sunday Terrorist Attacks was related to my family. Weerawansa MP reportedly said: “A daughter of brother of Rishad Bathiudeenโ€™s mother was one of the Dematagoda suicide bombers”. Hon Speaker, my mother has no any brothers. Therefore this statement was absolutely falseโ€ said Bathiudeen MP and added: โ€œHon Weerawansa MP has been making such false statements in this august House over a long period of time. I would like to stress that by making such false allegations Weerawansa MP has been trying to spread ethnic hatred in Sri Lanka since the day of the bombings. As all his wild allegations against me have been proven to be false, he has even skipped lodging any complaint against me with the Police. And I should also point out that he is abusing the Houseโ€™ privileges by making such wild allegations against me.โ€
