CHENNAI: Protesting the attacks on Muslims in Sri Lanka, members of two Tamil Nadu-based outfits of the community held demonstrations outside the island nation’s Deputy High Commission here on Tuesday 17.
Members of Tamil Nadu Thowheedh Jamaath (TNTJ) and Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) staged separate protests outside the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commission office at Nungambakkam, police said.
About 50 protesters were detained and later let off, they said.
The protesters demanded justice for the victims and action against the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, Indian National League (INL) state President S J Inayathullah was scheduled to meet the consular officials here tomorrow on this issue, a party release said.
