Sri Lanka VTA celebrates 24th anniversary

Since its establishment on 16 August 1995, the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) now vested under my Ministry, has been striving in the past 24 years to bring high quality vocational training to the rural youth and depressed segments of Sri Lankan society due to the salient fact that 57% of our GDP comes from the Services sector. As it celebrates its 24th anniversary on 16 August 2019 and marks 24 years in operations, I am pleased to note that it has now acquired the capacity to train 35000 Sri Lankan youth annually in 18 trade sectors. I commend VTAโ€™s staff and course participants for their achievements over the years and their ongoing contribution towards developing the human resources and skills of our youth that lends support to Sri Lankaโ€™s service excellence in diverse ways.
